Compared with January 2007 figures, Rueda AO has increased its back label provision up to 17.85%.
Rueda A.O. makes a good start of 2008 with the provision of 3,494,074 back labels of white wine. This means that the total volume of back labels of white wine has increased up to 17.85% compared with January 2007 figures.
Out of that total, 1,355,835 back labels are for Rueda Verdejo-type wine, the most representative of Rueda A.O. .
In addition, 2007 ended with good results for the Rueda A.O. as the provision of 36,619,145 back labels (white+red wine, but during January 2007 back labels for red wine were provided) led to an increase of 5.97% with regard to 2006.(+ 2.063.566 units.)
Particularly, 36,382,786 back labels of that total corresponded to white wine. This represented 9.24% more than that of the same period of the previous year (2006), i.e., 3,078,668 more bottles.
By type of wine, Rueda Verdejo stands out. In fact, this wine accounts for 41.63% of total white wine and it has seen an increase of 18.63% compared with the same period of previous year.
The wine sales of Rueda Appellation of Origin are increasingly growing which confirms that, year after year, consumers are demanding quality wines, as is the case of the wines produced during this campaign that display a good structured mouth, an elegant nose and a medium-high aromatic power.
It is expected that the new wines of 2007 harvest, the vast majority of which will be commercialized in 2008 (even though some wineries already started in December 2007), would exhibit a powerful nose and highlighted aromas due to the characteristics of the harvest campaign. During this campaign, grapes underwent slow maturation, which is very positive indeed as wine preserves its aromas.
