Klassiek Europa is a wine tasting event of one day, especially for consumers, organized each year in October at the Palace Hotel in Noordwijk.
Around 25 importers are present to showcase their wines. The theme of the wine tasting is “Classic Europe”, so only wines from Europe are shown. Around 600 very interested consumers and some people from trade and press attended Klassiek Europa. Visitors can taste over 400 wines and also attend a few masterclasses on special topics.
Rueda table We organized a table especially around Rueda wines. 16 different wines by several importers could be tasted. The table was decorated with Rueda promotion material. There were also leaflets and posters about Rueda available at the table. As well as a list of all the wines and information where they could be bought and at which price. Masterclass Frank Smulders MW To make the consumer tasting of Klassiek Europa even more complete, we organized a masterclass of Rueda by Frank Smulders MW, the only Master of Wine from the Netherlands. This to explain more about the background of Rueda wines and what makes them so special. At the masterclass 6 wines were tasted. Frank Smulders is an expert on Spanish wines and already did a presentation for Rueda wines at our wine tasting in April 2008, with a lot of success. This time the tasting was for consumers instead of professionals. The title of the presentation was: “Rueda wines, the best white wines from Spain”.
