Composition

ORIGIN

The white wines from the Rueda Designation of Origin as they are known today date back to January 12, 1980, when D.O. Rueda became the first recognised Designation of Origin in the autonomous community of Castilla y León.

Today, the regulation in force is the Order of March 13, 2020, of the Castilla y León Regional Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, which approves the new Regulations of the Rueda Designation of Origin and its Regulatory Board.

D.O. Rueda Regulations, CHAPTER VII on the Regulatory Board. Articles 22 and 23: 

Article 22. Composition and attributions.

  • 1. The Regulatory Board shall have the following organisational structure:
    • Plenary Session.
    • President.
    • Vice President.

Article 23.Plenary Session.

  • 1. The Plenary Session shall be made up of:
    • Six board members representing winegrowers, chosen by and among the winegrowers registered in the Registry of Vineyard Plots.
    • Six board members representing winemakers, chosen by and among the winemakers registered in the Registry of Wineries.
  • 2. The meetings shall be attended, with voice but not vote, by a representative appointed by the Regional Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
  • 3. The meetings of the plenary session of the Regulatory Board shall be attended, with voice but not vote, by the Secretary of the Regulatory Board, the Technical Director of the Control Body and the legal advisor of the Regulatory Board.

Today, the regulation in force is the Order of July 21, 2008, of the Castilla y León Regional Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, which approves the Regulations of the Rueda Designation of Origin and its Regulatory Board.
